ABOUT EDWARD

EDWARD'S STORY
Edward began racing in 2012 at the age of 6 where he instantly showed promise, finishing on the podium consistently throughout his first year in Bambino kart racing.

At 9 years old he entered his first UK Championship, competing against 13-year-old drivers with far more experience. The season proved to be an amazing learning curve as two years on at 10 years old Edward secured multiple podiums, finishing 8th overall in the British Championship.

Now driving a full-sized adult kart at the age of 11, Edward went onto consistently finish in the top five throughout the 2018 British Champion
ship achieving 5 podiums to secure 5th in the Championship. Edward concluded his karting career in the European Winter Cup and the Summer Championship, where he finished an impressive 5th overall.

In 2021 Edward moved into cars to compete in the Ginetta Junior Championship, the supporting series for the British touring car championship; ending the season in an impressive third position.

Edward continued his progression in 2022 to compete in single seaters, entering the competitive British F4 series, a proven series that supports the development of young drivers in single-seaters. His season ended in impressive style in October as he banked two top-five finishes on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, his best results of the year.

For 2023, Edward joined the GB3 Championship with Fortec Motorsport, an established single-seater series recognised as a key step towards competing in F1. The 16-year-old had a good learning year in the series, taking a third place in difficult conditions to open the season at Oulton Park.

Edward then followed that up at the season finale with a second place which without the intervention of the Safety Car could have been a win. He also scored a good seventh at the challenging Spa-Francorchamps in June and finished in the top five on four different occasions.

Back for a second season in the GB3 Championship in 2024, Edward endured a challenging season despite showing promise at various points during the year. With an eye on the next stage of his career, Edward made the difficult decision to bring his GB3 programme to an early end in September to join the Euroformula Open Championship with the Motopark team for two rounds.

The move reignited Edward's season, as he went onto to secure an impressive debut record of three podium finishes in six races despite limited testing and no prior experience of the Red Bull Ring or Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Edward now has his eyes set on embarking on a full season campaign in the Euroformula Open Championship for 2025 with the series visiting five contemporary F1 venues, providing further invaluable experience.

With an eye on the next stage of his career, Edward made the difficult decision to bring his GB3 programme to an early end in September and will instead join the Euroformula Open Championship with the Motopark team.

As Edward bids to move up the single-seater ladder, the move up to Euroformula Open will provide him with the opportunity to gain valuable experience of a number of new circuits on the continent, with the series having events at the Red Bull Ring, Catalunya and Monza still to run this season.

Euroformula Open is regarded as one of the natural stepping stones for drivers looking to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, with the last two champions - Oliver Goethe and Noel León - both stepping up to the F1 support series on the back of their title-winning campaigns.

Cian Shield, Charlie Wurz, Joshua Dufek and Tim Tramnitz also appeared in the series last season and are now part of the F3 field.

German outfit Motopark has a long heritage in successfully coaching drivers on their way into a professional career in motorsport. Out of the 2023 Formula 1 grid Max Verstappen, Valterri Botas, Kevin Magnussen, Yukis Tsunoda, Guanyu Zhou, Logan Sargent and Liam Lawson are drivers in which Motopark played a significant role during their career.
